Community Leaders Invited to

“Lead the Way to a Cleaner Louisiana”

Leaders throughout Monroe, West Monroe, Sterlington, Richwood, and Ouachita Parish are joining Keep Monroe, West Monroe & Ouachita Parish Beautiful to participate in the 4th Annual “Leaders Against Litter” event Friday, March 10, 2017. Keep Monroe, West Monroe & Ouachita Parish Beautiful is one of numerous Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB) affiliate communities across the state selected to host this statewide “litter-thon.”

In partnership with Volunteer Louisiana and the Office of the Lieutenant Governor, KLB has awarded a $1,500.00 grant to host each local event in this statewide effort to heighten awareness and confront the litter problem in Louisiana.

Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser has invited local officials, stakeholders, and potential supporters to participate in the Leaders Against Litter event.

The Leaders Against Litter press conference is set to begin at 9:00 a.m. at the River Market Pavillion, Downtown Monroe (across the street from the Ouachita Parish Courthouse, 300 South Grand Street - Monroe, LA). The group will be dispatched to designated routes throughout our community collecting litter using golden grabbers and wearing “Leaders Against Litter” t-shirts. Following the cleanup, they will sign a pledge confirming their commitment to a cleaner community and state, and demonstrating their support for Keep Monroe, West Monroe & Ouachita Parish Beautiful.

Lt. Governor Nungesser, in conjunction with Keep Louisiana Beautiful and Volunteer Louisiana, will announce the total results of all the events, along with the number of pledges signed, at a press conference at the State Capitol in Baton Rouge at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2017.

The general public is encouraged to follow the example of the leaders in the Monroe, West Monroe, Sterlington, Richwood, and Ouachita Parish community and participate in the Great American Cleanup on Saturday, March 18, 2017.
